MHSC Concludes Census "Complete Count" Promotion

Click here for a report on our Census participation (August 2010). Montcalm County ranked 17th highest of 83 counties for Census mail participation/return rates. Ten of our county's 13 Census Tracts beat their 2000 decennnial rates, six of them by double digits. The three tracts that missed their 2000 rates missed by very small margins; a few more questionnaires would have pushed them into the plus column. Lots of good information, tables, and  charts. We surpassed our  County's 2000 Census participation rate of 72% by reaching 81% (as of April 27). You can still click here to check your area's 2010 Census Participation Rates (questionnaire return rate) and compare to the 2000 Census.

The MHSC formed a Census 2010"Complete Count Committee" to create local awareness about the Census and ensure an accurate Census count. The MHSC focused on MHSC member organizations and constituencies, encouraging others in the community to be active in their circles of influence. As part of our efforts, we assembled  resources here to help MHSC members and other community partners with their efforts. No matter what their community or role, we hoped local partners would use this information to promote resident participation in the Census process that started in March.
