The MHSC started in 1994. Since that time, the group has evolved to address Montcalm County's changing needs and seize new opportunities. The MHSC is recognized by the State of Michigan as one of 76 State endorsed Community Collaboratives throughout Michigan. The MHSC is a voluntary community coalition and does not have legal status (such as "non-profit"). To see a list of current Community Collaborative websites throughout Michigan, click here.

Meetings: The MHSC (usually) meets monthly. See the "Documents" section of our website for more information on our meetings and related documents. The Executive Committee meets between MHSC meetings.

Current Executive Committee Members are Bob Ferrentino, Chairperson (Montcalm Community College); Erin Roberts, Vice-Chairperson (Relief After Violent Encounter - Ionia/Montcalm); John Johansen, Past Chairperson (Montcalm County Board of Commissioners); Mo Beach, Basic Needs Committee Chairperson (Habitat for Humanity); Bob Clingenpeel, Economic and Workforce Development Committee Chairperson (Montcalm County Commission on Aging); John Van Nieuwenhuyzen, Education Committee Chairperson (EightCAP, Inc.); and Dr. Dorothy Berg, Health Care Committee Chairperson (North Kent Guidance Services). The MHSC Chair and Vice-Chair are elected annually in September.
